Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why does this site exist? Aren't there like a million other image sharing sites?
  • Since phnx is a free (and open source) app with no ads, this is an experiment to see if the viral images shared by our users can generate income and reward the efforts of the 14 months of development of phnx. Also, the majority of popular image hosting websites are cluttered and offer a poor user experience. We aim to improve that experience here.
  • Do I still own my photos once I have uploaded them to this site?
  • Yes! We will never claim ownership of your photos, period. You own the rights to your photos, but we do reserve the right to remove or delete photos from the site at any time for any reason. See our Terms of Serivce for more information.
  • Can I use another photo sharing site inside phnx without using this site?
  • There won't be an official alternative implemented in phnx, but you are more than welcome to modify the freely available source code to use the image host of your choice.
  • Where are my images actually stored?
  • Your images are stored on the speedy and reliable Amazon S3 service. Read more about Amazon's S3 service.
  • What happens if this site shuts down? Will I lose all of the images I've uploaded?
  • Ideally this won't ever be an issue, but in the event that this website does have to close its doors, we will give users ample time to download a Zip archive of all of their images.
  • How do I delete a photo that I have uploaded?
  • Sign in with your Twitter account and find the image in your dashboard area to delete it.
